Hong Kong

A couple of weeks back, I headed to Hong Kong with Kai Lin. We booked the ticket rather last minute, merely 3 weeks beforehand I believe. But we got ourselves a pretty good deal online and flew by cathay pacific. This spells Splendid!

The flight was in the morning so Kai Lin and I shared a cab and headed to the airport early. Actually not really early. Pretty standard, I left my place 2 hours before the flight. And guess whats the first thing I spent on? Cosmetics! Over a hundred bucks at DFS. Awesome! Didn't check the price from the local store but they should be slightly cheaper.

Here we are on the plane

And after 3+ hours, we reaches Hong Kong!

On the cab to our hotel. The cab fare aren't really cheap. Its just like our local cab fare. Total damage to the hotel: $40! IKR!

We stayed in Kowloon, apparently its a different part of Hong Kong. They are separated in 3 parts I believe, Hong Kong, Kowloon and Macau. For example, if I would like to go to Lan Kwai Fong, I have to tell the cabbie I want to "Guo Hai", in another word, travel across the border and see if he's willing to fetch us there.

When we first entered the room. First reaction: Pretty small as compared to the previous hotel I stayed a year back. But that's okay. Dorsett MongKok has all the amenities we needed. Except for wifi within the rooms! You gotta pay if you would like to have wifi and they are pretty pricy. However, there's wifi in the lobby. So, it wasn't that inconvenient afterall!

Our bed

Our hotel provides shuttle bus to a few of the areas and we dropped ourselves off at the Ladies Market as our first stop

Tried the first local streetfood: Curry fishball. Rather spicy but there's a kick when one pop in one fishball after another

I know the way I slinged my bag is awful, but better to be safe than sorry abroad right?

At Victoria Harbour

Notice the different in lightings?

Yea, we were there to catch the 15 minutes show of symphony of light, which was rather demoralizing. Not sure is it because of the haze or what? I hardly notice any big difference! Just some beams of lights and music, that are all!

Spotted the ice cream van when we left the area. How could I miss it right? Despite the cold weather.

I'm having a goldfish memory, I couldn't remember what we did after that and what dinner we had. My memory is super bad these days. Not like it was very good before. So thats my Day 1 in Hong Kong.

For Day 2, we asked the hotel receptionist whats the best place she would recommend for Dim Sum and she replied Tim Ho Wan. I was like Okay, Maybe the Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong are different from Singapore? Afterall, thats the origin. We walked to Olympian City from our hotel. A quick 20 minutes walk.

Here I am all wrapped like a dumpling, but shortly unzipped my leather jacket and removed my scarf after which as I felt suffocated!

No queue here, so yay!

4/5 of what we ordered. Was super full after our brunch! But strangely, it does taste better in HK! Not sure if its because of the environment or what? Haha

After which, we headed over to Argyle Centre for some retail therapy. And gawd! The layout of this shopping mall is confusing. Not a good place to bring your guy over to shop I would say. If you think Platinum mall is perplex, Argyle is worst! You have to keep going about in circles! And I felt giddy halfway through! It was that bad! Maybe I wasn't feeling that good in the first place (will explain that later). Didn't got myself alot of stuffs in the shopping mall as it was Winter in Hong Kong! So one would see lots of knits, long sleeves, boots etc. After we completed this mall, we just loitered around within the areas till we are all tired/hungry.

Here what we have for dinner! I wasn't feeling that good and was craving for something soup thus we settled at a cafe near our hotel and had these breakfasty dinner

We headed back to our hotel after which, rest, slack, used the net and we were all ready to party the night out! Haha, exaggerating. But Hong Kong nightlife starts pretty late. We left our hotel at around 1+am and took a cab down to guo hai to Lan Kwai Fong.

Pretty bustling and yea, those people are walking on a road (there's still cars travelling thro and fro, but they don't seems to care that much)

Us!

We spent most our time at Magnum club. It was ladies night that night so free entry for us! The club was actually pretty small, something like Mink, but smaller. Dress code, the club is pretty strict about it so they would restrict anyone if they think that you are not properly dressed. Thus its not of any surprised that most of the guys dressed better as what I saw in Singapore club. No photo taken as I believe what I would capture would just be beams of lights. And the smart me, I deposited all my belongings with the club and merely brought my phone with no cash! Haha, smart right? What am I gonna drink when I get hot and sweaty after dancing? But luckily, we made friend with a Japanese Singaporean, who offered to buy us drinks. And the both of us still couldn't get his name even though he repeated it like twice. Haha. Party till 4am and we headed back to the hotel to use wifi afterwhich. Haha, we were still quite awake then!

See! We looked awake right?

For day 3, I would update that on another day as it consists lots of pictures captured in Disneyland. For my stay in Hong Kong, I wasn't feeling well as my period chose to arrive the moment I touched down at HK airport. That accurate! During my first three stays, I literally finished 1 box of extra strong pandaol! That was how bad I felt! And this in turn disrupt my mood. Owed Kai Lin an apology for that. During times I looked cross, felt tried, was in pain, loss of appetite. I think if anyone would to piss me off when I am having period, I would explode! Like seriously!
